Lucia's Sangria

Sangria

1 Bottle of white or red wine
1 Lemon cut into slices
1 Orange cut into slices
1 Lime cut into slices
1 cup of strawberries whole
2 Tbsp sugar (or to taste)
1/4 cup triple sec, brandy or gin
Bottle of plain seltzer (1 quart)

Preparation:

Pour wine into a large pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit slices (leaving out seeds if possible) then add sugar, and triple sec, Chill overnight. Add seltzer, berries and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled wine and serve over lots of ice. However, remember that the best Sangrias are chilled around 24 hours in the frig. - allowing the flavors to really marinate into each other. Any combination of fruit can be used. Peaches, grapes, raspberries, apple etc. Be creative!

Happy sipping
Salute!
Lucia
